COURSE OVERVIEW

 

Introduction

This 2-week course is designed to equip educators, trainers, and instructional designers with the knowledge and skills necessary to integrate Geographic Information Systems (GIS) effectively into educational programs. Participants will learn instructional design strategies, curriculum development, and innovative teaching methods tailored for GIS education. Through hands-on exercises, interactive workshops, and collaborative projects, participants will gain practical experience in creating engaging GIS lessons and fostering a dynamic learning environment.

Day 3: Curriculum Development for GIS Education

• Designing a GIS curriculum: scope, sequence, and modules
• Integration of GIS into existing educational frameworks

Day 4: Interactive Teaching Methods

• Active learning strategies for GIS education
• Use of multimedia, simulations, and gamification in GIS instruction

Day 5: Assessments and Evaluation in GIS Education

• Formative and summative assessments for GIS learning outcomes

 Week 2: Practical Implementation and Project Development

 Day 1: GIS Software Familiarization

Methodology

The instructor led trainings are delivered using a blended learning approach and comprises of presentations, guided sessions of practical exercise, web-based tutorials and group work. Our facilitators are seasoned industry experts with years of experience, working as professional and trainers in these fields.

All facilitation and course materials will be offered in English. The participants should be reasonably proficient in English.

CERTIFICATION

Upon successful completion of this training, participants will be issued with Steady Development Centre certificate.

TRAINING VENUE

The training will be held at Steady Development Centre. The course fee covers the course tuition, training materials, two break refreshments and lunch.

All participants will additionally cater for their, travel expenses, visa application, insurance, and other personal expenses.
