Advocacy, Campaigning and Policy Influence for Gender Equality Course

Introduction

Advocacy, campaigning, and policy influence are powerful tools for advancing gender equality and driving systemic social change. This course is designed to equip participants with practical skills to design and implement effective advocacy strategies that influence policies, laws, and institutional practices in favor of gender equality and social justice.

Despite significant progress, many gender-related issues remain underrepresented in policy agendas and decision-making spaces. This course addresses this gap by providing participants with structured approaches to advocacy that amplify voices, mobilize communities, and influence policy change at local, national, and international levels.

The course provides a comprehensive understanding of advocacy frameworks, campaign planning processes, and policy influence strategies. Participants will explore how evidence-based advocacy can be used to shape public opinion, influence stakeholders, and drive legislative and institutional reforms that promote gender equality.

A strong focus is placed on practical campaigning skills, including message development, stakeholder mapping, coalition building, media engagement, and policy dialogue. Participants will learn how to design targeted campaigns that effectively communicate gender equality issues and mobilize action across diverse audiences.

Emerging issues such as digital advocacy, social media campaigning, misinformation, civic technology, and global policy networks are integrated into the curriculum. These topics ensure participants are equipped with modern tools and strategies for influencing policy in a fast-changing communication environment.

Through simulations, case studies, and practical campaign design exercises, participants will gain hands-on experience in advocacy and policy influence. By the end of the course, participants will be able to design and lead impactful campaigns that drive gender-responsive policy and institutional change.
