Executive Program in Women, Peace and Security Leadership Course
Introduction
Women, Peace and Security (WPS) is a critical global framework that recognizes the essential role of women in conflict prevention, peacebuilding, post-conflict recovery, and security governance. This course equips participants with advanced leadership skills to implement WPS principles effectively within national, regional, and international peace and security systems, ensuring inclusive and sustainable peace processes.
Despite global commitments such as UN Security Council Resolution 1325, women remain underrepresented in peace negotiations, security decision-making, and conflict resolution mechanisms. Structural barriers, cultural norms, and institutional exclusion continue to limit women’s participation. This program addresses these gaps by strengthening leadership capacity to promote gender-inclusive peacebuilding frameworks and accountability systems.
Participants will explore the intersection of gender, conflict, and security through advanced analytical and practical approaches. The course provides tools for designing inclusive peace processes, strengthening protection frameworks, and enhancing women’s leadership in conflict prevention and post-conflict reconstruction. It emphasizes evidence-based strategies for sustainable peace and stability.
A strong focus is placed on leadership development for women in peace and security roles, including negotiation, mediation, conflict resolution, and policy advocacy. Participants will learn how to influence decision-making processes at local, national, and global levels while promoting inclusive governance structures that recognize women as key peace actors.
The program also examines emerging global security challenges such as violent extremism, forced displacement, climate-related conflicts, and cyber insecurity. Participants will gain insights into how these evolving threats disproportionately affect women and how gender-responsive strategies can enhance resilience and peacebuilding effectiveness.
By the end of the course, participants will be equipped to lead and influence Women, Peace and Security initiatives across diverse contexts. They will have the skills to design policies, lead peacebuilding programs, and strengthen institutional systems that promote inclusive, equitable, and sustainable peace.
