Climate change is one of the most pressing global challenges, and its impacts are not gender-neutral. Women, girls, and marginalized communities are often disproportionately affected due to limited access to resources, decision-making power, and adaptive capacity. This course is designed to equip participants with knowledge and skills to integrate gender perspectives into climate change adaptation, environmental management, and sustainability programming.
The course explores how environmental degradation, climate shocks, and resource scarcity deepen existing gender inequalities. It emphasizes the importance of inclusive climate action strategies that recognize the different roles, responsibilities, and vulnerabilities of women and men in environmental contexts.
Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of climate change frameworks, environmental governance systems, and sustainable development principles. The course highlights how gender-responsive approaches can strengthen resilience and improve community adaptation to climate risks.
A strong focus is placed on practical climate adaptation strategies, including sustainable agriculture, natural resource management, disaster risk reduction, and community-based environmental planning. Participants will learn how to design and implement gender-inclusive environmental programs that promote sustainability.
Emerging issues such as green economy transitions, climate finance, carbon markets, renewable energy access, climate migration, and environmental justice are integrated into the curriculum. These ensure participants are prepared to respond to evolving global sustainability challenges.
Through case studies, simulations, and field-based exercises, participants will gain hands-on experience in designing gender-responsive climate and environmental programs. By the end of the course, participants will be able to lead inclusive sustainability initiatives that strengthen resilience and environmental protection.
