Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Mainstreaming, Analysis & Planning Gender in Humanitarian Action Course

Introduction

Gender-based violence (GBV) remains a critical challenge in humanitarian contexts, disproportionately affecting women, children, and marginalized groups. This course equips participants with practical knowledge and skills to address GBV effectively in humanitarian programming.

Participants will gain a deep understanding of gender dynamics in crisis-affected communities and how to integrate gender considerations into needs assessments, program design, and policy development. The course emphasizes human rights-based approaches and inclusive planning.

The program explores strategies for GBV prevention, protection, and response, including safe reporting mechanisms, survivor-centered interventions, and coordination with local authorities and community actors.

Participants will also learn tools for gender analysis and mainstreaming in humanitarian action, ensuring that programs respond to the specific needs of women, men, girls, and boys while promoting equity and social inclusion.

Through case studies, simulations, and group exercises, participants will develop practical skills in planning, monitoring, and evaluating gender-sensitive interventions in complex humanitarian settings.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to design, implement, and manage gender-responsive programs, enhance protection against GBV, and contribute to more inclusive, effective humanitarian interventions.
